Dynatrap® DT250IN Portable Indoor Flying Insect Trap, 1000 Sq.Ft.
Description
Indoor insect control just got easier with the Dynatrap® Insect and Mosquito Trap. The Dynatrap® portable indoor insect trap attracts and kills mosquitoes and other nuisance flying insects including pantry moths, flies, and Asian beetles. This insect trap is engineered for 3-way protection. First, a UV fluorescent bulb generates a warm light, attracting insects. Then a second lure, an exclusive Ti02 titanium dioxide-coated surface, produces CO2 (the same gas we emit when we exhale) that's irresistible to mosquitoes. Third, a powerful, yet whisper-quiet vacuum fan sucks insects into the retaining cage where they dehydrate and die. A unique twist on/off feature ensures that any insects still alive in the retaining cage will not escape when the trap is turned off. The trap weighs less than 3 lbs. and is about the size of a large thermos, enabling ease of portability from room to room and unobtrusive set up.
- Protects up to 1000 sq ft.
- Pesticide and odor free
- Whisper quiet operation
- No zapping or buzzing. No expensive attractant or propane required
- Easy to set up.
Technical Information:

How The Dynatrap® Works
- The Dynatrap® offers a 3-way protection plan for insect elimination. First, UV fluorescent bulbs produce warm light to attract insects to the Dynatrap®. Second, an exclusive coating of titanium dioxide (TiO2) inside Dynatrap® produces carbon dioxide (CO2), which is irresistible to mosquitoes. Third, the insects are lured to the powerful vacuum fan, where they are collected and trapped into the retaining cage away from the area of usage providing the user safe pest protection and comfortable living quarters.
Ultraviolet light rays
- Mosquitoes and other flying insects react extremely sensitively to certain wavelength of ultraviolet rays. The Dynatrap®'s special UV bulbs are made of the highest quality and designed to last approximately 3000 hours (or 4 months). The Dynatrap® can attract and capture mosquitoes both in bright and dark outdoors and indoors, and is designed to run 24/7.
Titanium Dioxide Coating
- Mosquitoes, even in the dark, can easily find where people or animals are by sensing their carbon dioxide and temperature emanations. Scientists consider carbon dioxide as the single most important cue used by mosquitoes for locating a source of blood. Certain parts inside the Dynatrap® are coated with titanium dioxide (TiO2), and when the Dynatrap®'s special ultraviolet wavelength hits the TiO2, a photocatalytic reaction takes place that produces carbon dioxide. This is the same CO2 that humans exhale, and is irresistible to mosquitoes.
Powerful Vacuum Action Fan
- Once flying insects have been attracted to the Dynatrap® by warm UV light and CO2, the Dynatrap®'s powerful (yet whisper-quiet) fan serves two functions. It is first used to draw insects into the retaining cage. It then keeps those insects from escaping using the vacuum action created by the continuous cycle of the fan. The Dynatrap® is energy efficient and is designed to run continuously. The fan is so quiet, it's hardly noticeable.
Retaining Cage
- Insects are drawn into the retaining cage trapping them until they dehydrate and die. The retaining cage can be removed, allowing the contents to be periodically emptied into the trash. The screened material on the retaining cage allows what has been trapped in the unit to be seen, and alerting you when the cage needs to be emptied. A special interchangeable retaining net can also be purchased for use with some Dynatrap® models for high catch rates — typically useful in agricultural settings near livestock.
Tips for Insect Control:
Pests need water, food, and shelter. Often, the problem may be solved just by removing these key items.
Removing water (especially important for mosquito breeding areas)
- Dispose of any tires.
- Drill holes in the bottom of recycling containers.
- Clear roof gutters of debris.
- Clean pet water dishes regularly.
- Check and empty children's toys.
- Repair leaky outdoor faucets.
- Change the water in bird baths at least once a week.
- Canoes and other boats should be turned over.
- Avoid water collecting on pool covers.
- Empty water collected in tarps around the yard or on woodpiles.
- Plug tree holes.
- Even the smallest of containers that can collect water can breed hundreds to thousands of mosquitoes. They don't need much water to lay their eggs (bottles, barrels, buckets, overturned garbage can lids, etc.)
Removing Food
- Make sure food and food scraps are tightly sealed.
- Regularly remove garbage from the home.
- Don't leave pet food and water out overnight.
Removing Shelter
- Seal cracks and holes on the outside of the home.
- Keep tree branches and shrubbery well-trimmed and away from the house.
- Keep the outside of the home free and clear: do not stack wood next to the home, do not leave piles of leaves lying around the yard, and mow your lawn regularly.
These tips are a great starting point. Once you have implemented these things, flying insects will be further eliminated by installing the Dynatrap® Insect and Mosquito Trap.
Using your Dynatrap® Insect and Mosquito Trap:
- Place the unit 20-40 feet away from your outdoor living area.
- Hang or mount the unit 3-6 feet above ground level if possible.
- Position away from competing light sources such as spot or porch lights.
- Leave it on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except when cleaning)
How does the Dynatrap® attract flying insects?
- When humans or animals breath out, they produce CO2 (carbon dioxide), and their bodies are constantly giving off heat and moisture. mosquitoes and other biting insects have the ability to detect CO2, heat and moisture from long distances and are immediately attracted to the source.
- Mosquitoes, even in the dark, can easily find people and animals by sensing their carbon dioxide and temperature emanations. Scientists consider carbon dioxide as the single most important cue used by mosquitoes for locating a source of blood (female mosquitoes can detect a host to feed on at a distance of up to 100 yards). mosquitoes also react extremely sensitively to ultraviolet rays.
- The Dynatrap® can attract and capture mosquitoes both in bright and dark areas, outdoors and indoors using a 3-part system: heat from a special ultraviolet wavelength, carbon dioxide produced when photo catalyst light is radiated onto a titanium dioxide (TiO2) coated surface inside the trap, and a powerful (yet quiet) fan. Insects are drawn into the retaining cage and trapped until they dehydrate and die. More about how it works.
