Mixing
Cut or twist off desired amount of epoxy. Mix by kneading putty with fingers until a uniform color is achieved. For ease of mixing warm putty to room temperature or above. Powder on hands (corn starch, baby powder) is helpful to minimize sticky epoxy contact before hardening begins.
Note: Use latex gloves to avoid any issues.
Tips:
For best results, surface should be cleaned and free of rust, dust, and oil. Solvents such as denatured alcohol can be used to remove most contaminants. Whenever possible, lightly sand or rough up the surface to improve adhesion. For a smooth, finished surface, hand rub with wet finger or cloth prior to cure. Denatured alcohol is excellent for smoothing, shaping, and forming of putty epoxy. PC Marine cures well even at cold temperatures (40°F). PC Marine is supplied in premeasured sticks. The texture of the putty is such that it is slightly tacky but does not stick aggressively to fingers. The putty holds its shape well and can be used in vertical and overhead applications.
