Description
Preen Lawn Crabgrass Control prevents crabgrass and other grassy and broadleaf weeds for up to 4 months when applied prior to their germination in lawns and ornamental turfgrasses. It also provides post-emergence control of seedling crabgrass for up to 4 weeks after it germinates. Don't choose between killing and preventing - get both!

Because it can be applied later in spring, Preen Lawn Crabgrass Control provides season-long control for some of the toughest weeds, including crabgrass, chickweed, henbit, yellow foxtail and spurge. Use it on many types of cool and warm season grasses, including Bentgrass, Fescues, Kentucky bluegrass, Ryegrass, Bermudagrass, Carpetgrass, St. Augustinegrass and Zoysiagrass.
Preen Lawn Crabgrass Control should be applied to lawns and ornamental turfgrasses that are well established. When used according to the directions, it will not harm nearby established ornamentals.
Application
How to Apply
- Preen Lawn Crabgrass Control can be applied with a drop or rotary spreader designed to apply granular fertilizers. For best results, apply this product evenly and uniformly over the turfgrass area, avoiding streaking, skips or overlaps.
- To optimize product performance apply this product within a few days after mowing and delay mowing again for a few days after the application. Most effective weed control will be obtained when Preen Lawn Crabgrass Control is activated by rainfall or irrigation. Performance is improved if application is followed by 1/2" of rainfall or irrigation. Erratic weed control may result if not activated by rainfall or irrigation within 30 days after application.
When to Apply
- Preen Lawn Crabgrass Control should be applied in the spring or fall prior to weed seed germination for control of weeds in established yards. For the ultimate in season-long weed control, apply in the fall with a sequential or second application the following spring. If this product is applied in the fall, do not reseed, over-seed or spring turfgrasses within 12 weeks after application.
Applying Around Not Well-Established Turfgrasses
- Use of Preen Lawn Crabgrass Control on lawns and ornamental turfgrasses that are not well-established or have been weakened by stress may increase the chances of turfgrass injury. Stresses include injury due to mechanical operations, pests, excessive temperatures or lack of moisture. Do not apply this product to lawns or turfgrasses that are under stress.
